A Partnership in Striving for Excellence and Modeling Respect

Spring is here!

Thanks to our parent group for supporting our school. Volunteers supported the Carpinteria Education Foundation's Orchard to Ocean Fun Run by providing water to the participants. It was great fun to see our students supporting the event and our Running club in action. We also had our first Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival on Activity Day. I sent out some great pictures on ParentSquare.

Smarter Balanced Testing begins in May. We have scheduled the testing to be a part of student's regular classes. Students will take an online assessment for a day or two each week in their math or language arts classes. As usual, please make sure that students come to school well-rested and fed.
The assessments are challenging (and much better than assessments of the past) and they give us terrific information. We use these results to monitor student progress and make decisions about our instructional programs.

Please check the calendar for important end of the year dates. We have a lot of exciting events planned.

For the new or prospective parents...

Carpinteria Middle School serves approximately 500 6th, 7th and 8th graders. All district elementary schools feed into our school. As a smaller school in a tight-knit community, we are able to provide a nurturing and safe environment. We have 27 teachers and a host of support staff working to improve student learning and achievement.

Returning CUSD families will be able to register for school online beginning this summer. New families will be able to pick up registration packets in July. We will have a new parent informational night on August 16th at 6pm in the New Gym. We can't wait to meet you all!

Have a great spring!
